She carried you on her womb for nine months, doted on you while you were an infant, cheered you up on your first word and guided you on your first step, pampered you with love, care and affection, taught you the abc’s and 123, inculcated on your young mind basic principles, values, list of appropriateness and fear of hell and the joy of heaven.
Sent you to a good school with a lofty ambition that you’d grow up successful in your field, warning you of the evils of getting into a relationship on your tender teenage years, expecting you to be home when it gets dark, giving you a litany of scolding when you made a mistake, prepared your breakfast and “baon,” making sure you’ll never go hungry thus be perky in class all day long. She made sure she knew your friends, occasionally allowing you to go out with school friends with a promise to be home right away. She wouldn’t get a goodnight sleep until I’m home safely. Sometimes you felt it was her mission to keep your life miserable, and then you grow mature. Understanding her better, knowing she has your best interest at heart.
Yes, I’m talking about my mother. The woman I owe my life to and am forever grateful for raising us the best way she knew how. I’m a better person because of her.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there;)
